Location
The project site is situated within the Royal Arsenal development.  This is a mixed use development site set over 76 acres.  The development is mainly residential led, with 3,700 residential units in development.  Also proposed, are 8,500 square metres of office space, 5,200 square metres of retail space, 3,600 square metres of restaurants, cafes and bars as well as leisure facilities and open spaces.  As of 2011, 1,700 homes have already been completed, along with a pub, museum and cafĂ©.  The end development value of the site will be close to £1.5 billion.
The project site is approximately 300 yards from a new station to be built for the opening of the Crossrail line in 2018.  Crossrail is a new rail line extending through Central London, connecting with Heathrow airport and further west.  
London attracts almost 15 million international visitors per year, making it the world’s most visited city.  Greenwich is a popular tourist destination.  Key visitor attractions in the area include the National maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, Old Royal Naval College, Eltham Palace and the Greenwich Heritage Centre.
A new cable car is to be built and operated across the Thames.  The cable car (to be delivered before the 2012 Olympic Games) will provide a low emission, quick, direct and fully accessible link connecting the Greenwich Peninsula and the O2 with the Royal Victoria Docks and Excel.
